Giving

Time For Giving
Giving

Growing up in a small town outside of Houston Texas was full of lessons. Lessons that I would not fully understand until later in my adulthood. I remember making a friend with this girl who moved into town. (at least I thought we were friends at the time) We would hang out together and I was there for her when she had troubles at home. One day she asked if she could borrow some of my new wedge heels. You know back in the day those were the best thing to ever! You could add some height but be stable at the same time! Anyway, I let her borrow my shoes. Guess what happened! Yep, she never returned them. When I asked about them, she got mad at me! Then, she stopped speaking to me. We had a big blow up and everything!  I learned a valuable lesson at that time. Do not give or lend someone something and expect anything in return! It is not the way most of us feel or respond when someone ask us for something. We expect them to be nice when we are nice. We expect to get our money back when we lend it out. We expect others to at the least appreciate what we do for them. However, sometimes that is not the case. When I read Luke 6:35, I was grateful. I was able to do what the word of God says without knowing. To me that showed growth!  So, when you do something nice for someone, do not expect anything in return. You never know what someone is going through at any given time. They may not have the capacity to consider your feelings or the finances to pay you back. Do what you feel is right to you! Give without expecting anything in return!

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Luke 6:35 ESV
